My Favorite Wedding Photo Locations in NJ and NYC

Your wedding day is one of the most exciting days of your life! And as a wedding photographer, I know how important it is to find the perfect backdrop for your wedding photos. After all, if I know you, you’re probably going to treasure them forever and maybe even pass them on to your grandchildren one day. The location should be perfect! From lush gardens to iconic cityscapes, here are some of my favorite wedding photo locations in NJ and NYC to help make that happen!

But, before we get started, if you're looking for a NJ wedding photographer, I’d love to be considered! I specialize in intimate weddings from two-person elopements to micro weddings (you can find a list of my favorite NJ wedding venues for micro weddings here, if you’re curious!). Learn more about me here, and you can get in touch with me, here.

Columbus Park in Hoboken

First among my favorite wedding photo locations, we have Columbus Park in Hoboken. The park’s beautifully landscaped grounds, charming gazebo, and scenic pathways provide a picturesque setting for capturing your special day. Plus, with the stunning Manhattan skyline as a backdrop, your wedding photos will have a unique blend of natural beauty and urban charm.

Hamilton Park in Jersey City

Hamilton Park is another beloved location in Jersey City, known for its serene atmosphere and stunning views of the New York City skyline a short distance away. The park’s lush greenery, fountain, pavilion and tree-lined pathways offer a ton of different photo backdrops. It’s a perfect spot for couples looking for a mix of city and nature in their wedding photos.

Ladies Pavilion in Central Park

Next, Ladies Pavilion in Central Park is a quaint and romantic spot that’s perfect for wedding photos and wedding ceremonies. This charming Victorian-style pavilion is nestled by the water, offering beautiful reflections and a peaceful ambiance.

Central Park

Speaking of Central Park, while it can be busy, it’s also iconic. From the world-renowned Bow Bridge to the lush greenery of The Ramble, there are countless beautiful locations to choose from. Each corner of Central Park offers a unique backdrop, ensuring that your wedding photos are as exciting as your love story.

Ninety Acres

Ninety Acres is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of New Jersey. This stunning venue offers a blend of rustic charm and elegant sophistication. The expansive grounds, historic architecture, and breathtaking views create an idyllic setting for your wedding photos. Whether you’re capturing intimate moments in the lush gardens or grand shots with the mansion as a backdrop, Ninety Acres is sure to impress.

Lackawanna Coffee in Jersey City

For a cozy and intimate setting, you might also consider the outdoor space at Lackawanna Coffee on Greve Street in Jersey City. This charming coffee shop offers a relaxed atmosphere with beautiful outdoor seating, perfect for capturing candid and heartfelt moments. It’s a great spot for couples who want a more casual and personal touch to their wedding photos.

Devoción in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Devoción in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, is another favorite wedding photo locations of mine and a fantastic choice, especially if you’re looking for a beautiful skylight space! The natural light flooding through the skylights creates a dreamy and ethereal ambiance, perfect for capturing romantic and whimsical moments. The lush greenery and stylish décor add to the charm, making it a truly unique photo location.

Your Own Backyard!

I’m always a big fan of backyard weddings. There’s just something incredibly personal and intimate about celebrating your special day in a familiar and sentimental space. Whether it’s your own backyard or that of a loved one, the warmth and comfort of a backyard wedding make for beautiful and heartfelt photos.

The Rose Garden in Brookdale Park

The Rose Garden in Brookdale Park is a stunning location, especially during the peak rose season in June. The vibrant blooms and lush greenery provide a romantic and colorful backdrop for your wedding photos. Since it’s a local park, you can keep an eye on the blossoms and choose the perfect time for your photoshoot.

City Hall Weddings

City Hall weddings have their own unique charm! Performed on weekdays in Jersey City, Hoboken, and New York City, these intimate ceremonies are perfect for couples looking for a simple and elegant affair. Be sure to book your time slot in advance so you can plan your photoshoot around it. The historic architecture and bustling city streets make for stylish and memorable wedding photos.

Rutgers Gardens

Next, we have Rutgers Gardens, a 180-acre botanical garden that has no shortage of stunning outdoor photo locations. From meticulously-designed gardens and plant collections to farms and natural habitats, there’s something for every one. The lush landscapes and seasonal blooms make for breathtaking wedding photos.

Freeman Gardens

Freeman Gardens is a charming and intimate garden located in Glen Ridge, NJ. The well-maintained gardens and quaint pathways provide a serene and beautiful setting for wedding photos. It’s a perfect spot for couples looking for a quiet and picturesque location.

Federal Twist Vineyards

Federal Twist Vineyards offers a rustic and romantic setting for wedding photos. The rolling vineyards, rustic barn, and scenic views create a magical atmosphere that’s perfect for capturing your special day. It’s an ideal spot for couples who love nature and want a touch of rustic elegance in their wedding photos.

Special Locations

Last but not least, if there’s a place that’s special to you, don’t hesitate to ask if they can host your wedding ceremony and possibly even a cocktail hour or dinner. Whether it’s a favorite restaurant, a meaningful landmark, or a sentimental spot from your relationship, incorporating a special location into your wedding photos adds a deeply personal touch to your memories.

Pro Tip: With any wedding that’s not happening at a traditional venue, such as a park or garden (private or public), always check to see if you need a permit. This ensures a smooth and hassle-free photoshoot, allowing you to focus on creating beautiful memories.
